The following is a summary of a selection of the metal industry projects we have worked on through the years.

Description

Ore Fill Station Mechanical Modifications Engineering and design services to investigate the existing ore fill station and provide modifications to eliminate dusting and provide for more efficient and cleaner ore loading. Provide zone isolation valves and tie the existing ore fill station into the vacuum system.
Potshell Lining Drawing Working with the lining crew, develop drawings to map each course of lining up to the ram for the potshells.
Potshell Drawing Provide modified potshell drawings for the revised shell and cradle assembly.
Fall Protection Devices Provide engineering and design of the following fall protection systems throughout the plant:
Crane Rails
Crane
Rectifier Station Main Switch
Port Rail Car Load-Out
Port Storage Domes Inventory Safe Line
Sow Mold Heater Study Provide the engineering to complete a study of the heating requirements of casting sows for the elimination of moisture. The study provided graphical data of the heating requirements of a single sow with forced air electric heat. The results of this study provided the data to complete the design of a portable sow mold heater.
Construction Supervision Services Provide construction administration of the following projects:

Lighting Fixture Survey TCL Rebate Survey of plant lighting and tabulation for application to Tacoma City Light for their industrial rebate program.
Weather Station Relocation Engineering to complete the relocation of the existing weather station.
Rail Car Load-Out Fall Protection System Provide scoping and preliminary engineering to complete the specification of a 400+ feet long rail car load-out fall protection system.
Construction Administration Complete project construction administration for various projects throughout an aluminum plant.
Sweepings Unload System Design of a method to unload an existing 100 ton bin utilizing the existing ore distribution trucks. Specification of a new air slide, control valve and programming.
CCR Jib Crane Evaluation Evaluation of selected jib crane within the CCR for load rating per OSHA and WISHA standards.
Stud Setter Adapter Design of an adapter to provide for utilization of alternate studs.
Bake-Out Grid Redesign Redesign of the existing bake out grid to provide for ease of change-out of the insulators. Included was the design of the new strongbacks for forklift carrying.
Air Operated Railcar Opener Engineering and design of an air powered wrench for opening the bottom gates on sectionalized railcars.
Feasibility Study New Storeroom Preliminary design and construction cost estimate for the expansion of the existing storeroom, including a new truck dock. Investigation into options of expansion into adjacent facilities and a complete new facility at the plant entrance.
CCR Fleeter Saddle Engineering of a CCR mill saddle to prevent the flying rod from expulsion during a switch over and miss.
Prototype A Side Shields Design of new A Side Shield for the prebake prototype pots.
Cathode Paste Box Modifications Design of a new cathode paste box for use in the ramming process.
Air Handling System Jib Cranes Design of 3 free standing platforms and 1/2T jib cranes for environmental sampling system lifting.
CCR Office Modifications Office modifications and conference room addition to an existing office complex.
Plant Support Facility Preliminary design and construction cost estimates for a new Training / Lunchroom / Support Facility.
Brick Storage Warehouse Design of Building Foundation
Furnace Installation Design of piping, electrical and controls for the installation of a titanium reduction furnace. Included control system programming and construction management.
Castings Expansion Provided project and construction management, and facility design for the expansion of the titanium casting facility.
Melting Furnace Top Feed Design of the top feed for the extension of a titanium melting furnace for the casting facility. Included mechanical design, controls, hydraulics, and drive system.
Vacuum Weld Chamber Provided project management, preliminary engineering and cost estimating for a vacuum welding chamber for fabrication of titanium electrodes used in the melting process.
Emergency Vent System Preliminary engineering, cost estimating and detailed design for a system to collect chlorine discharged from rupture disks during upset conditions and treat by reaction with caustic.
Sponge Leach Neutralization System Detailed design for the installation of a system to neutralize acid used in a titanium sponge leaching operation.
Graphite Storage Preliminary engineering and cost estimate for a graphite storage and transport system.
Vacuum Creep Flattener Detailed design of a vacuum creep flattener for flattening titanium sheets. The project included design and supply of a complete control system and SQL server for data collection, storage and reporting.
